public intervention

Project Entrance is an intervention, which focuses on a specific system put forward by educational institutions such as the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO) in Ljubljana, and particularly by such institutions’ admission examinations. The aim of our project, which exposes the discourse on this issue that has been present in Slovenia for many years now, is to point out the inappropriate valorization/criteria of the academy admission examinations, which have turned out to be completely incompatible with contemporary art production. With this project we actively interfered in the issue, thus proving ours was not a mere allegation of impropriety based on entrance requirements and conditions. Metod Blejec, a member of the Trie Group, applied for admission to ALUO in the academic year 2006–2007 (department of painting). The project started on 6 January 2006 with the authentication of a document/concept of the project at the Municipal Office in Ljubljana, which consists of presentation of the candidate, explanation of the project and description of the course of events. The latter consisted of the following steps: the submission of the application to the Higher Education Application and Information Service, followed by the ALUO Examination Commission’s explanation of the reasons for non-acceptance of the candidate into the academy.
